On April 24, 2013, 53-year-old Thomas Augustyniak left his home in Glen Rock, PA and went for a walk. He grabbed his cigarettes and lighter, but left behind his car keys, cell phone and wallet. He left a note saying that he was going for a walk, and signed it with a smiley face. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Police have released a surveillance photo of Tom from the day he went missing as he was walking through the center of town, wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket and white leather sneakers.
Investigators have conducted major searches in their efforts to find Tom. They have searched a large area around his home, and have used bloodhounds, helicopters, and search and rescue teams, but he has yet to be found. Bloodhounds picked up his scent on the York County Heritage Rail Trail, but then lost it. Police say this would not have been Tom’s normal walking route.
A Facebook page has been set up for Tom, to spread the awareness about his disappearance. Below is how his loved ones describe him:
Tom is a respected man whom is loving, down to earth, helpful, easy-going, and smart. He’s into fishing, watching sports, fixing things, playing with his grandchildren, and spending time down at his beach spot in Delaware.
Tom’s family is offering a reward for any tips that help bring him home. Any tips should be reported to 911 or the Southern Regional Police at 717-235-3944.
