22-year-old Jordan Linn Graham has been charged with the murder of her husband, 25-year-old Cody Lee Johnson, after allegedly admitting to pushing him off a cliff. They had been married for only eight days.
According to the police affidavit, on July 7, just before 9 PM, Jordan texted a friend and said that she was planning on talking to Cody about having second thoughts about getting married. She wrote, “But dead serious if u don’t hear from me at all again tonight, something happened.”
The next day, Cody was reported missing when he didn’t show up to work. Jordan was questioned and told investigators that Cody had texted her on the night of his death, saying that he was going to go for a drive with a friend from out of town. She said that she she arrived home just in time to see a dark-colored car pulling out of their driveway. She told investigators that she no longer had the text message on her phone because she and Cody routinely deleted their messages.
On July 11, Jordan told a park ranger that she had found Cody’s body in Glacier National Park. When the park ranger commented that it was strange that she had found the body, she reportedly told him that “it was a place he had wanted to see before he died” and that Cody would often come up to the area with friends.
A week after her first interview, Jordan admitted to police that she had lied about her involvement in Cody’s death. She told them that she and Cody had an argument, and decided to drive to Glacier National Park. Once there, they walked on the trail and continued arguing. She stated that when she tried to walk away from him, he grabbed her arm. She pushed him and he fell face-first off the cliff.
Jordan has been charged with first and second-degree murder, as well as making false statements.
