Aaron Hernandez isn’t the only former NFL star facing some serious legal trouble. Former five-time Pro Bowl player Darren Sharper is being charged with numerous counts of drugging and raping women, and an Arizona judge has just denied bail.
Sharper has been in an LA jail since February 2014, after he was charged with drugging and raping two women in the Los Angeles area. He was being held on $1 million bail, but the judge removed the bail after an Arizona grand jury indicted him on additional charges there. He is facing five counts of drugging and raping three women in Scottsdale, Arizona, in additional to the two women in LA.
And that’s not all.
According to CNN, Sharper is also being investigated for sexual assault in three other states – Louisiana, Nevada, and Florida. Police in New Orleans have issued an arrest warrant for him but he has not yet been extradited to face charges there.
The application for the arrest warrant says New Orleans detectives interviewed two women who said they were raped on September 23. The two accusers told police they were so impaired they don’t recall “the entirety of the sexual intercourse,” and that they never agreed to have sex.
Sharper is maiming his innocence as he awaits the next steps.
