Brittany Murphy’s father believes she was murdered.
The 32-year-old A-list actress was found dead in her Los Angeles home in December 2009. Her death was ruled an accident, caused by complications with pneumonia. Five months later, her husband died from the very same thing. He was 40.
Now, two years later, Brittany’s father is voicing his suspicions about their deaths.
Angelo Bertolotti went on Good Morning America last week and said he believes his daughter was poisoned.
“I feel that she was poisoned, there’s no question about that. I think she was murdered.”
New toxicology reports ordered by Bertolotti determined that samples of Brittany’s hair tested positive for high levels of 10 heavy metals. The lab that conducted the tests said in their report that one explanation “would be an exposure to these metals (toxins) administered by a third party perpetrator with likely criminal intent.”
According to Bertolotti, the LA County coroner never tested Brittany’s hair for poison. He said he and his family want both Brittany and her husband Simon’s bodies exhumed, since they both had similar symptoms before they died.
Simon’s mother appeared on Nancy Grace, saying that she agreed with the notion of re-opening the investigation into Brittany and Simon’s deaths. She said Simon hadn’t been feeling well in the months before he died.
So who would want Brittany and her husband dead, if they were both, in fact, murdered? When Nancy Grace asked if he suspected anyone, Bertolotti told her that he does have someone in mind but that he would rather not discuss who it is.
The LA County coroner said they haven’t seen those lab results yet and that they stand by their original conclusions in the case.
