19-year-old Austin Harrouff stabbed John Stevens III, 59, and his wife Michelle Mishcon, 53, to death in an unprovoked, random attack in Florida on Monday. Stevens and Mishcon were sitting in their garage with the door open when the assault occurred.
Witnesses say Jeff Fisher, a neighbor of the couple, heard Mishcon screaming and attempted to stop the attack. Fisher was stabbed multiple times by Harrouff prior to retreating to his house to call 911. He was rushed to the hospital and was released a few days later.
When police arrived at the scene, Harrouff was biting Stevens’ face. According to reports, he was growling and seemed unusually strong as he withstood being hit with a taser. It took multiple police officers as well as a police dog to pull Harrouff off of Stevens’ body. Deputies had to remove flesh from Harrouff’s mouth and sedate him.
Harrouff’s mother, unaware of the attack, called Jupiter police the same night after Harrouff had an argument with his father and left the restaurant they were dining at. In the call, his mother called him “delusional” because he was telling people that he was immortal. She later learned of the murders.
Harrouff is currently under armed guard in a hospital. They will be running pathology tests to determine if he took a substance to caused his behavior.
