Amanda Hayes

A jury found Amanda Hayes guilty yesterday of second degree murder for her role in the death of her husband’s ex-girlfriend, 27-year-old Laura Ackerson. Her husband, Grant Hayes, was convicted in September 2013 of first-degree murder. You can read more about Grant’s trial HERE.

Prosecutors said in court that Amanda and Grant killed Laura at their Raleigh apartment in July 2011 during an argument over Laura and Grant’s custody of their children.

Before she was sentenced, Amanda stood up and apologized to Laura, Laura’s family, her family, Grant’s family, and everyone who was involved in her trial.
